Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to have Champion Video film my school's dance recital, ice show, graduation, concert, or special event?
For most organizations, it doesn't cost the hosting organization anything to have Champion Video film their event. Champion Video sells DVDs of the event directly to the people participating in the event. If you would like to reserve Champion Video for your event, contact Champion Video to see if your date is still available.
Why do some dance numbers look better than other dance numbers?
One of the largest factors to how good your entire video will look is the quality of the lighting. The best lighting for video is a nice even light where all parts of the stage are lit equally. It's not uncommon for theaters to have difficulty lighting a stage evenly, especially near the sides of the stage. Although Champion Video does not have any control over how the lights will be set, we are always willing to consult with the lighting director if requested. Champion Video does eveything within its capabilities to make the best possible DVD given the lighting present. It's not uncommon for some dance numbers to be lit a particular way, and other dance numbers to be lit another way. It's this variance that can affect the quality of the image within a dance recital.
My child is dancing with a group that has 20 people in it, will I see my daughter?
Creating any event video is always a challenge when there are many people on stage at one time. If we leave our shot wide, there will be little detail for any individual person. If we stay tight on a particular person, this is at the sacrifice of everyone else as well as the integrity of the dance number. Here's how we approach the challenge: If the group is very young, we try to show more close ups...usually of several dancers at one time. As the group gets older, we realize the dancing that they are doing is more likely to have complex group blocking, so we try to stay wide more. If it's a production number, we tend to stay wide more. The key is to balance everything out, and we over a decade of experience in doing so. We will provide you with the best possible DVD that we can given all of the factors that are present.

Why won't Champion Video sell Event DVDs to anyone who wants to order one?
It's Champion Video's policy to only sell DVDs to the person or person's family who was in the actual event. The reason for this is because dance schools want to protect their choregraphy as much as possible.
Why do some of the DVDs on your site sell for different prices?
The price of all of our DVDs is based on several factors including: Number of predicted sales, length of event, location, number of performances recorded, difficulty of event, equipment needed for the event, and number of cameras used.
